First View and Expectation on Windows 8!

Microsoft, the software giant which has been dominating the global operation system landscape for more than 20 years, is reported to unveil its long anticipated Windows 8 at the ninth D: AllThingsDigital conference in the coming week. Steve Ballmer, the current Microsoft’s CEO will give the public the first view of Windows 8. Moreover, Windows 8 maybe shipped until 2012 according to the past Windows release cycles.

There is no other company which is more important than Microsoft in operation system field; it could always improve upon its preceding launches with the release of the latest version operation system. Microsoft is an expert in the operating system space with experience of knowing how to be successful in that market. What would the new operation system like?

Back to earlier this year, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has said that Windows 8 would support ARM-based devices, which means that the hot tablet in could adopt another important operation system in the near future. Window 8 for tablets is going to use concepts from the Windows Phone 7 interface, meaning users could poke and fondle the screen. Microsoft now is doing a massive of work to optimize Windows 8 for tablets, containing porting it to the ARM processors used in most tablets and smartphones and building a touch user interface that has started to leak out in some screenshots. It was an extremely important change for Microsoft which has already been late in the mobile market. Tablets and smartphone makers will have an opportunity to use Windows 8 on their products using an ARM chip. For years Microsoft has been talking about its operating system is ready for tablets, the support of Windows 8 for ARM-based devices shows that the software giant is working hard on making Windows 8 more tablet-friendly, the consumers should have more options for mobile devices running the software giant’s next OS.

Would Windows 8 have an app store? Microsft’s ‘old friend’ –Apple released its Mac App Store on October 20, 2010, a digital distribution platform for Mac OS X apps, in its first 24 hours, there was a total of more than one million downloads on Mac App Store. On January 6, 2011, there are more than 1000 programs launched on Mac App Store which includes Apple's own iWork '09, iLife '11, Aperture and third-party applications ported from iOS, such as Angry Birds, Flight Control, Gravilux, and Twitter. Will Microsft track Apple’s way to launch an app store for Windows 8? Some speculation indicated that Microsoft mulls to launch an application store with Windows 8, which will put windows 8 on an even playing field against Mac OS X Snow Leopard and the approaching “Lion,” which will ship with the App Store built in. The move will make a new landscape of desktop operating systems.

Its era of free began by Google’s Android and Chrome OS, free could be more popular than the paid one. As Linux-based operating system designed by Google, Google Chrome OS could work exclusively with web apps. Chrome OS was released on July 7, 2009 and made it an open source project, termed as Chromium OS. Google has launch "Chromebooks" from Acer and Samsung which will be shipped later this year. When we already have windows 7 and Windows XP for our desktop and Android, Chrome OS for our smartphones and tablets, will we still need Windows 8 which is just a is an obvious tweak of Windows 7?
In the old days, a new operation system must release to catch up with the steps of hardware has, the era of Microsoft dominates the global operation system landscape has ended, could the upcoming Windows 8 do the same achievement as its predecessors did?
