Review: Toshiba Canvio 500GB Portable Hard Drive with USB 3.0

Just unboxed my new portable drive yesterday.. well this was the one I bought from Amazon. It’s Toshiba Canvio , a 500GB-capacity external storage drive with USB 3.0 support and fast-transfer file transfer capability.

Perfect for personal file storage because totally lightweight.Basically doesn’t need a separate power cord except on computers that has a limited power bus.

Advantages:
  • Basic 3.0 support-can do a high speed file transfer to your spacious drive.
  • Plug and Play-No software installation or any driver needed.
  • Internal Shock Sensor and Ramp Loading Technology-a protection in case of accidental drops.
  • 3 year-Limited Warranty-A peace of mind to you part.
Canvio is like a common Buffalo-drive in size thick but the USB 3.0 cord is thicker,-it holds strong and can’t be waggled easily both end (it’s only a half meter long). The front-face has a small power or file transfer LED light indicator.

Canvio runs smoothly on Windows OS family (XP, Vista and Windows) just plug and start dragging files. On it. On Mac OS X( Tiger/Leopard) it might requires you to format before using but works easy on my iMac at home. As of this review, the Toshina Canvio Basic cost $79 on Amazon US but since August 2015 its already below $50.
