Accendo will soon build Davao Technopod-an IT Center

Accendo Commercial Corp., the company that will run the Abreeza mixed use project, will soon build the “Davao Technopod,” an information technology (IT) center as the company is still securing registration requirements.
Lawyer Ma. Carmela K. Ignacio, attorney-in-fact of the company, said the facility will be located within the 10-hectare project, a joint venture of Ayala Land Inc. and Anflo Management and Investment Corp.
“The Davao Technopod will be a seven to eight-storey building specifically designed to cater to the requirements of business process outsourcing (BPO) companies as well as traditional officices,” said Ignacio in a letter addressed to Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Jan. 20 that requested for the endorsement of the city government.
The endorsement from the city government is one of the requirements of Philippine Economic Zone Authority for the approval of the center as information technology park so it could avail of incentives.
On April 12, the city council approved the passage of the resolution endorsing the project for the first reading. The body has also referred it to its committee on trade, commerce and industry for review.
The proposal cites that the first three floors of the IT center will be dedicated to the retail expansion of the mall within the project. The remaining floors will be the office portion of the building that accomodates the business process outsourcing companies.
“It will have an approximate office gross leasable area of 10,000 square meters and its office component alone can generate roughly 4,400 jobs,” it added.
The proposed IT center was endorsed by the Davao City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC) on Feb. 17, citing that it will “further strengthen the city’s attractiveness to the BPO and other ICT-related businesses at no cost to the city.”
The proposed project is among the eight new projects that are in the pipeline to rise in the city that would provide more space to the different local and foreign investors of contact centers.
Other projects are the two-hectare facility dubbed as M PiazzaOro in Lanang, Panacan IT Park, Mamay IT Building, First Mindanao Industrial Park in Brgy. Mandug, Centerpoint Plaza in Matina, Felcris IT Park, and Filandia IT Center.

Last year, he said there were 9,800 full-time employees bycontact centers compared to just 5,000 in 2009.
